Half-Duplex Estimate-and-Forward Relaying: Achievable Rates and Code Design
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a practical coding scheme for halfduplex estimate-and-forward relaying. The proposed construction is guided by the information theoretic coding scheme for the estimate-and-forward relay protocol. Our construction incorporates several design features to reduce receiver complexity without compromising performance. Observing that the relaying gain is significant only at low SNRs, we use binary LDPC codes in the source broadcast phase of relaying. Estimation is performed by entropy constrained scalar quantization of the received signal at the relay. Finally, a procedure similar to maximal ratio combining is used to aggregate direct and relayed signals at the destination. An important practical advantage of our scheme is that it does not require source-relay symbol synchronization. The codes outperform direct and two-hop channel capacities, as well as decode-and-forward relaying when the relay-destination link is strong.

LDPC Code-Design for the Relay Channel
We propose LDPC code designs for the half-duplex relay channel. Our designs are derived from the information theoretic random coding scheme for decode-and-forward relaying. An important advantage of our scheme is that it is built entirely of single-user codes. The optimization of relay LDPC code profiles presents unique challenges, which are met by modifying the density evolution algorithm by i...

متن کاملAchievable rate regions for bi-directional relaying
In a bi-directional relay channel, two nodes wish to exchange independent messages over a shared wireless half-duplex channel with the help of a relay. In this paper, we derive achievable rate regions for four new half-duplex protocols and compare these to four existing half-duplex protocols and outer bounds. In time, our protocols consist of either two or three phases. In the two phase protoco...

In this channel,we study rate region of a Gaussian two-way diamond channel which operates in half-duplex mode. In this channel, two transceiver (TR) nodes exchange their messages with the help of two relay nodes. We consider a special case of the Gaussian two-way diamond channels which is called Compute-and-Forward Multiple Access Channel (CF-MAC). In the CF-MAC, the TR nodes transmit their mes...
متن کاملRelaying without Decoding
Relay networks and cooperative transmission have spurred considerable interest in recent years, promising performance improvements in, e.g., system capacity, robustness and transmission rate. In this thesis, the focus is on the so-called half-duplex relay channels, where in the system, a source node wants to transmit a message to a destination node and a relay node can potentially assist this t...
